France Benodet Travel Information
Overview
Benodet is situated on the mouth of the picturesque river O’det in south Brittany and yet is only 1½ hours from the port of Roscoff,
It is an ideal base from which to explore south Finistere with Quimper (10 miles), Concarneau (10 miles) and the artists' retreat of Pont Aven (20 miles) all within easy reach
The beach at Benodet is long, sandy and clean, you might like to try the quieter beaches at Beg Meil, Mousterlin, Kermoor and St. Marine, all within a 10-minute car ride.
The "trains", which provide a regular service around the town and beaches are very popular with children
Benodet has many wonderful restaurants and is perhaps best known for its' seafood.
The family resort of Benodet at the mouth of the river (reachable by boat from Quimper ) has a long sheltered beach on the ocean side, with amusements for children and beachside nurseries.
Benodet also has several large campsites - if anything, rather too many of them - such as the enormous four-star du Letty , southeast of the village by plage du Letty on rue du Canvez (closed early Sept to mid-June).
Around the Foret-Fouesnant in particular, 12km east of Bйnodet, the hills are much too steep for cyclists to climb, and forbidden to heavy vehicles such as caravans. Motorists would do best to take the more direct D44, a few kilometres inland, followed by the D783, which leads close to the major towns along the route.
Our campsites in Benodet are all within 10 minutes walk of the beaches, harbours and port areas, so handy for evening strolls.
