Hawaii Kalapaki kauai Beach Guide

As long as the surf is low you will find plenty of tourists and locals alike enjoying the water. Generally you will see surfers, boogie boarders, swimmers, bodysurfers, windsurfers, and the like. The water is not as clear as it is at many other beaches. This is because it is at Nawiliwili Bay. Both the Nawiliwili and Hule’ia streams empty into the ocean here making the water darker.

The Anchor Cove Shopping Center is within walking distance and provides facilities for beach goers. Not to mention the park beside the shopping center is a great place to hang out, picnic, or simply take a break from the sun.

You will probably encounter a lot of people out in the ocean at Kalapaki Beach, especially if it is low tide and the water is pretty calm. Not too many East shore beaches have so many water activities that are enjoyable like this beach does. As a result, all kinds of people head out to this beach every single day.

Arriving at Kalapaki Beach is pretty easy. You simply go to the Anchor Cove Shopping Center and take the road behind it to the beach. Or, you could take the path through the Marriott and reach Kalapaki Beach. Each access point is convenient and easy, it just depends which one is the best for you!

Kalapaki Beach fronts the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club as well as teh Kauai Lagoons championship golfcourse. The crescent-shaped sand beach opens out to Nawilwili Bay, the Harbor and the Hoary Head Mountains.

The sand gently slopes and the bay is partially protected, making the beach very popular with locals and tourists. Surf lessons, catamaran cruises, beach volleyball, and sailboat rentals are all available nearby.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 50 to Highway 56 into Lihu'e. Turn right on Rice Road at Mile Marker #0. Access to the beach is from the Anchor Cove Shopping Center or through the Kauai Marriott Resort.

Sunset Beach

Surfers around the world know this famous site for its spectacular winter surf - the waves can be huge, thundering peaks reaching up to 15 to 20 feet.

Wailea Beach

Wailea beach is long and wide, with good swimming and snorkeling. When waves are present, this area is also good for bodysurfing.

Secret Beach

Secret Beach, hidden away from the road up from Kapaa, is among Kauai's best-looking beaches, though swimming is usually unsafe.

George Murphy Beach Park (shortened to Murphy Beach Park over the years), but some old-timers still call it Kumimi Beach, and, just to make things really confusing, some people call it Jaycees Park.

Papohaku Beach

Papohaku Beach is one of the longest and finest beaches in the Hawaiian Islands. This beach extends over three miles of coastline and is more than 300 yards wide.
