"Millions" of tourists to take Spanish holidays
Millions of tourists are anticipated to take flights to Murcia and other regions for Spanish holidays in 2008, it has been claimed.
According to Exceltur, the rise in the number of people taking Spanish holidays is as a result of a reduction in costs of air travel among other things, Euroresidentes reports.
Spain's main tourist attractions were reported to be beaches and sun spots.
Holiday Which? recently reported that beach holidays would always be popular among British holidaymakers.
The most popular destinations in Spain are reported to be Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Granada and Santiago de Compostela because of their easy "accessibility" by air.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors staying in Spanish hotels increased by 6.3 per cent in urban areas and by 0.7 per cent in tourist destinations.
Vice-president of Exceltur, Sebastian Escarrer, added that that the number of Spanish hotel residents improved in 2007 and was likely to continue the positive trend in 2008.
