The weather around South Florida may have been dreary, but tourists visiting the Sunshine State refused to let some rain spoil their fun.
In Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, tourists hit the beaches despite rain drops and strong winds, but if you are from the northeast, things don’t seem so bad.
In New York, airlines canceled 300 flights Sunday as a hard-blowing nor'easter gathered strength along the East Coast and threatened to deliver some of the worst shore flooding in 14 years.
“I'm just glad I'm not on Cape Cod,” said tourist Courtney Wilson. “The weather there is blowing about 75 miles per hour tonight.”
It wasn’t that bad at the beaches Sunday, as the wind gusts on Fort Lauderdale beach reached 30 to 35 miles per hour. The wind did stir up some rough surf.
“They’re a bit rough, said tourist Michelle Lewis. “I'm used to rougher. I like the waves. I don't like it to be calm. I like going under the waves. I’m enjoying this.”
